This year, the Male’s boys lacrosse team is bigger and better than ever. They have worked countless hours to beat out the competition.
For the past couple months, the boys lacrosse team has been conditioning so that they can be faster and build endurance. Tyler Davis (10) says, “We’ve been working out at Baptist Health since August, in order to be better conditioned and stronger.” The team has reviewed opposing schools’ films to study and break down plays. They have also practiced wall ball and ran, in order to build up endurance.
The team has improved greatly since last year, as they only lost two seniors. Tanner Funk (12) claims, “We have a lot of talent and depth, with leadership coming from all levels.” The team this year has six seniors that know how to take charge and help the team be the best they can be. David Kyser (11) adds, “Overall the team is putting in more heart and it shows through our on field performance.”
This year, the varsity team has been 2-1. The team has accomplished more than last year, as they beat KCD for the first time in program history. Kyser claims, “We expect to have our most winning season in history. We have an extremely strong offensive lineup which is backed up by our great defense and all-star goalie.” Due to these accomplishments, the team is hoping to make a run in the state tournament this year.
As for their competitors, the team is looking forward to the classic Male vs Manual game. Davis says, “We played them close last year and I think we can beat them three years in a row.” From their conditioning to endurance, the team is ready for more victories.
The team is ready to take on any challenge and they have been able to build up their strength. Davis says, “I expect us to push through the challenges we will face this season.” Male looks forward more victories from the team.
