The Louisville Male High School football team is known throughout the city. We have the best football team in the state, nothing can tear them down.

What about softball winning state? What about the dance team constantly winning state? People can see that a lot of sports are not recognized for their hard work and dedication. Some people don’t think that there is favoritism throughout Male High when it comes to sports.

Based on a poll of random Male High School Students, 45% said that they have attended a fall sport other than football at Male this year. In contrast, 86% say that they have attended football games.

Another poll of the same 75 students, revealed that 97% percent of students can see favoritism in action throughout Male.

Senior Brianna Tilley plays for Louisville Male High School’s varsity soccer team. She stated,

“It’s definitely a thing (favoritism) at Male High school… literally no students come to our games… I just wish Male had a more inclusive community when it came to sports.”

She suggested that football, as well as basketball,  are favored over the others and she wishes the support could be distributed more evenly.

In addition to the perspective of a soccer player at Male, Savannah Newhouse, a senior on the national title-winning softball team had similar views as Brianna. She said,

“(The) softball team won state and nationals and didn’t get the recognition like the football team did when (they) won state in 2018…”

She suggested that the football team is the most favored sport at Male.

Junior, Jewels Meador swims for Louisville Male High School’s swim team. When she was asked, whether or not if she thought if there was favoritism in Male’s sports; she expressed

“The swim team of all the sports doesn’t get a lot of recognition, there's over 2000 kids in this school and we still only have about 30 people…”

Jewels says that with all the kids that go to Male, only a few students ever go to the meets.

So, the real question is… Are you playing favorites?
